Event in Bangkok highlights Uzbekistan’s tourism potential

On 20 May 2026, a seminar titled “Silk Road Gateway” was organized at the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Bangkok in cooperation with the representative office of Centrum Air in Thailand.
The event brought together representatives of various Thai tourism companies and agencies, as well as members of the business community. In his speech, Consul General Fakhriddin Sultanov drew the attention of foreign guests to historical monuments, mausoleums, and burial sites of the great ancestors of the Uzbek people, which may be of interest to tourists, as well as to the favorable conditions created for obtaining visas to Uzbekistan for Thai citizens.
In addition, the head of the consular mission noted that Centrum Air operates six flights per week from Bangkok and Phuket to Tashkent. In this regard, he emphasized that while only one airline was operating in Uzbekistan ten years ago, under the leadership of President Sh. Mirziyoyev, the number of airlines has now increased to more than ten.
During the seminar, Livio Arizzi, Corporate Vice President for Alliances and Partnerships at Sky Pacific Air Service Co., Ltd., together with representatives of Centrum Air, presented detailed information on Uzbekistan’s tourism opportunities and the airline’s expanding services.
Participants were introduced to the country’s most well-known tourist destinations, including the ancient Silk Road cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva, famous for their Islamic architecture, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and centuries-old trading history. Guests were also informed about Uzbekistan’s modern tourism infrastructure, hospitality sector, and the unique blend of traditional culture and contemporary development.
The seminar also served as an important networking platform, where tour operators, travel agencies, and members of the diplomatic community exchanged views and discussed future forms of cooperation. Participants explored the potential for joint tourism programs, cultural initiatives, and travel packages aimed at attracting more Thai travelers to Uzbekistan.
