Diplomatic missions facilitate the return of citizens of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan from Myanmar

BANGKOK, December 11. /Dunyo IA/. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Bangkok has received an official appeal from four Uzbek citizens - M.A., Sh.Sh., O.R. and Sh.R. - who reported that they had become victims of human trafficking in Myanmar and requested urgent assistance in returning to Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the applicants, they initially traveled to Thailand in response to an offer of high-paying online work, for which a free airline ticket from Uzbekistan had been provided. However, upon their arrival in Thailand, they were deceitfully and illegally transferred to Myanmar, where they fell into the hands of criminal groups engaged in human trafficking. In Myanmar, they were forced to work in fraudulent call centers, and those who refused to participate in illegal activities were subjected to physical abuse and threats.
It has also been confirmed that a citizen of Kazakhstan and a citizen of Kyrgyzstan found themselves in a similar situation in Myanmar, likewise falling victim to human trafficking networks.
Given the absence of a Kyrgyz diplomatic mission in Thailand, at the request of the Kyrgyz authorities, diplomats from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan provided assistance in organizing the return of the affected citizens to their homeland.
As a result of coordinated actions and negotiations with the competent authorities of Myanmar and Thailand, the citizens of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan were freed and handed over to the Uzbek and Kazakh diplomatic missions at the Mae Sot border crossing in Thailand. Temporary accommodation and food were provided to the released individuals.
On 9 December 2025, with the support of the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in Thailand, the citizens of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan were successfully repatriated to their respective countries.
This incident serves as a striking example of how fraternal ties, neighborly relations, strategic partnerships, and alliances between our countries are effectively implemented abroad, translating into tangible assistance for individuals in need.
The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Bangkok urges citizens to exercise heightened vigilance when considering employment offers abroad and to thoroughly verify the credibility of information sources. The Consulate General affirms its readiness to provide comprehensive consular support to citizens on matters related to employment in Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos.
