Khiva preparing for the traditional Melon Festival

From August 8 to 10, the traditional Melon Festival – “Qovun sayli” will take place in the Khorezm region, within the historic complexes of “Ichan-Kala” and “Arda Khiva”.
According to the portal uzbektourism.uz, as part of the festival, organized by the Tourism Committee and the Khorezm hokimiyat, cities and districts of the region will present an exhibition-fair of sweet melons grown in their respective areas. The pavilions will be festively decorated, reflecting regional characteristics.
In addition, there will be theatrical performances, puppet shows, a display of national costumes, exhibitions of traditional dishes, Khorezm bread, and handcrafted goods, live performances by folklore groups, master classes, as well as an exhibition of visual and applied arts.
Active participants in the “Qovun sayli” will be awarded valuable prizes from the Khorezm regional hokimiyat and sponsors in various categories.
The main festival events will take place in the “Ichan-Kala” tourist complex on August 8-9, and in “Arda Khiva” on August 10, featuring gala concerts with performances by local and international stars.
