Entry rules to Thailand for citizens of Uzbekistan
Information, for Uzbek citizens planning travel to Thailand, about entry rules, prohibited and restricted import/export items
Thailand has officially introduced a visa-free entry program for citizens of Uzbekistan as of July 15, 2024.
This new policy allows Uzbek citizens to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days without needing a visa. The visa-free entry applies at all border crossings.
To ensure a smooth trip, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Bangkok recommends that Uzbek visitors bring:
- Hotel reservation details
- Return flight ticket
- Travel insurance
* This initiative has been introduced unilaterally by the Thai Government and may change in the future.
The following goods can be imported into Thailand without paying customs duties:
1. Personal items (in a reasonable quantity, that is, without the possibility of selling in batches).
2. Up to 1 liter of alcohol per person.
3. Tobacco products - cigarettes with a total weight of up to 250 g (the number of cigarettes is up to 200 pieces, i.e. 1 block).
4. 1 camera or video camera.
5. 5 photo tapes or 3 cassettes for a video camera of 8 or 16 mm.
6. Household items and appliances can be imported to Thailand in reasonable quantities duty-free (if the owner of the goods has changed his place of residence).
7. Currency in the equivalent of 20,000 US dollars without declaration.
Goods prohibited for import into Thailand:
- import, use, storage and transportation of electronic cigarettes and their analogues. Fine - up to 30,000 US dollars and/or imprisonment for up to 10 years;
- drugs;
- pornographic materials;
- counterfeit goods related to trademarks and goods violating intellectual property rights (unlicensed video and audio materials);
- fake banknotes or coins;
- protected or wild animals included in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Importing American Staffordshire Terriers and Pit Bull Terriers is prohibited in Thailand.
Goods prohibited for export from Thailand:
- corals in raw form (allowed to be exported only as souvenirs or jewellery);
- ivory products, as well as skins and bones of protected animals;
- pictures of the Buddha (except medallions and statuettes up to 13 cm high) and Bodhisattvas, as well as their fragments, begging bowls;
- drugs;
- pornographic materials;
- fake money;
- whole durian fruits (allowed for export in cut and packed or dried form);
- soil and sand (including potted plants);
- stuffed and processed crocodile skin (in the form of finished products - allowed);
- live turtles, products made of turtle shells;
- corals in unprocessed form, precious stones in unprocessed form and/or without frames;
- gold bars;
- platinum jewellery;
- works of art and antiques without a license;
- postage stamps.
Restricted goods are goods of import and export, and their transportation over the established norm is restricted. Their transportation across the border requires the permission of the relevant state authorities.
List of prohibited goods and relevant Thai government authorities issuing permits:
1. Buddha images, religious or ancient art, antiques – Fine Arts Department, http://nsw.finearts.go.th.
2. Weapons, bullets and explosive devices – Department of Provincial Administration, Ministry of Interior, www.dopa.go.th.
3. Plants, seedlings and their parts – Department of Agriculture, www.doa.go.th.
4. Live animals, including domestic animals and animal products – Department of Livestock Development, www.dld.go.th.
5. Food, medicines, cosmetics and food additives – Food and Drug Administration (FDA), www.fda.moph.go.th.
6. Car spare parts – Ministry of Industry, www.industry.go.th.
7. Cigars, cigarettes, including electronic cigarettes, tobacco products and alcoholic beverages (limited quantity) – Excise Department, www.excise.go.th.
8. Communication Radio Devices and telecommunications equipment – Office of The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, www.nbtc.go.th.
9. To export (bring out from the country) jewellery, ingots and precious stones purchased in Thailand, it is required to obtain an appropriate certificate from the store.
It is also strongly recommended not to agree to someone’s request to bring something across the Thai border to avoid high fines and long prison terms!
