Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant celebrates its 70th anniversary
On October 24, Almalyk city celebrated the 70th anniversary of the founding of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant.
The main festive event was held at Metallurgist Palace of Culture. It was attended by heads of government, ministries, agencies, large industrial enterprises, representatives of the plant’s foreign partners, its workers and employees, and the public.
Prime Minister A. Aripov read out the congratulatory message of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the staff of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant.
Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant is considered one of the leading enterprises not only in Uzbekistan, but also throughout the world in mining and processing copper molybdenum, polymetals, minerals with a gold content. Currently, the company and its structural divisions in Tashkent, Namangan, Jizzakh and Surkhandarya regions employ more than 35 thousand people.
The production efficiency of the company increases thanks to the ongoing systematic work on technical and technological modernization of the plant, the involvement of advanced modern technologies and qualified specialists in the production process. For 9 months of this year, the plant produced products in the amount of more than 1 billion 400 million dollars. The growth of production compared to this period last year amounted to 131.5 percent. The production of cathode copper, lead, gold, and silver has significantly increased.
100 thousand tons of cathode copper were obtained at the plant of copper smelter and a new record was set. The volume of exports amounted to 655 million dollars, which is 1.5 times more than this period last year.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Aripov solemnly presented state awards in accordance with the Presidential Decree “On awarding the group of production leaders in connection with the 70th anniversary of the founding of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant” of October 23 this year.
In the coming years, it is planned to expand the plant’s raw material base to almost 3 billion 350 million USD, and to develop investments aimed at increasing production capacity.
Until 2023, it is planned to increase the annual production of minerals from 40 million to 100 million tons, cathode copper production – from 106 thousand to 250 thousand tons, zinc – from 68 thousand to 120 thousand tons, refined gold – from 14.6 to 30 tons, refined silver – from 98.6 to 215 tons.
